ICSS EUROPE and Partners celebrate the World Youth Day 2023 with MURAL of Refugee’s Testimonials to stress the power of sport in inclusion and integration of refugees

On the celebration of the World Youth Day Lisbon 2023 (Portugal, 2-6 August), assembling more that 1,5 million young people, from all countries in the world, the EU-funded Crossing the Boundaries through Sport – CrosSport project, led by the ICSS EUROPE, took part by highlighting the challenges of the increasing migration flows, and how sport and youth can contribute for the inclusion of refugees.

With distribution of flyers during the event’s multiple activities or by inviting young people to visit the project’s online MURAL, the main goal of this actions was to embrace the refugees’ journey of inclusion and integration in the host communities.

On the 1^st of August CrosSport’s project launched an awareness raising campaign with an online MURAL of Refugee Testimonials at the Lisbon Youth Centre showcasing how sport helps integration and inclusion in the words of young refugees and project’s partners.

The CrosSport project builds on the challenges that the current migration flow poses and is implemented by a consortium of committed partners – International Centre for Sport Security – ICSS EUROPE (Portugal), Fundación Sevilla Fútbol Club (Spain), Fondazione Lazio 1900 (Italy), International Olympic Truce Centre – IOTC (Greece) – that are driving a collective effort to promote inclusive mechanisms through sport.
